Meet three new members of #TeamSeabury! Seabury believes cycling is a healthy activity beneficial to people of all ages, so we are hosting a Bike to Work Day pit stop on May 19. In anticipation, we invited cyclists to share their stories. Kara, Kirk, and Elizabeth shared their keys to healthy aging with us
Kirk is an active member of the Oxon Hill Bicycle and Trail Club, which boasts members aged 10 to 80, and offers beginner through advanced rides. Kirk’s favorite ride is Rock Creek Park. He hopes to one day ride around the entire state of Florida. Kirk logs over 8,000 miles each year, but credits his wife’s cooking as his secret to healthy aging, saying she helps him eat “real food” as much as possible. Keep it up, Kirk!
Kara does toxicology for the EPA when she’s not cycling, but when she is, she enjoys riding the George Washington Parkway with its view of the monuments. She also wants to try the new Anacostia River Trail. Aside from cycling Kara stays active and engages in healthy aging by playing soccer and finding fun ways to exercise. Go, Kara!
Elizabeth volunteers with programs for DC older adults, spends time with her extended family, and engages in political advocacy. She still finds time to exercise, getting some cycling in as she runs errands. Her favorite ride is the hill right outside her house, but her bucket list ride is cycling the Pacific coast. Her secret to healthy aging is simple: friends! Thanks, Elizabeth!
